Generalized Time Warping for Alignment of Human Behavior

چکیده

Temporal alignment of human motion performing similar activities has been a topic of recent interest due to its many applications in animation, tele-rehabilitation or activity recognition. This paper presents generalized time warping (GTW), an extension of dynamic time warping (DTW) for temporally aligning multi-modal sequences from multiple subjects performing similar activities. GTW solves three major drawbacks of existing approaches based on DTW: (1) GTW provides a feature weighting layer to adapt different modalities (e.g., video and motion capture data), (2) GTW extends DTW by allowing a more flexible time warping as combination of monotonic functions, (3) unlike DTW that typically has a quadratic cost, GTW has linear complexity in terms of the length of the sequence. Experimental results demonstrate that GTW can efficiently solve the multi-modal temporal alignment problem, and outperforms state-of-the-art methods for temporal alignment of signals with the same modality.

Canonical Time Warping for Alignment of Human Behavior

Alignment of time series is an important problem to solve in many scientific disciplines (e.g. bioinformatics, computer vision). In particular, temporal alignment of two or more subjects performing similar activities is a challenging problem due to the large temporal scale difference between human actions as well as the inter/intra subject variability. In this paper we present canonical time wa...

Multiple Multidimensional Sequence Alignment Using Generalized Dynamic Time Warping

Nowadays, the alignment of multidimensional sequences is required in many applications especially for multimedia data. The ordinary DTW is not well satisfied this condition because it can only align a pair of 1D sequences at once. Applying traditional DTW to these tasks not only makes each pairwise alignments are independent but also causes each dimensions are compared separately. In this paper...

Generalized Warping In Flexural-Torsional Buckling Analysis of Composite Beams

The finite element method is employed for the flexural-torsional linear buckling analysis of beams of arbitrarily shaped composite cross-section taking into account generalized warping (shear lag effects due to both flexure and torsion). The contacting materials, that constitute the composite cross section, may include a finite number of holes. A compressive axial load is applied to the beam. The...

Beam & Shell Models for Composite Straight or Curved Bridge Decks with Intermediate Diaphragms & Assessment of Design Specifications

In this research effort, the generalized warping and distortional problem of straight or horizontally curved composite beams of arbitrary cross section, loading and boundary conditions is presented. An inclined plane of curvature is considered. Additionally, the stiffness of diaphragmatic plates has been introduced in the formulation in order to compare with the case where rigid diaphragms are ...
